Establishing a Visual Identity - Case Study

Brand Campaign | Creative Direction & Production | Photography

CONTEXT
Run Tan Du approached me ahead of launching his sophomore collection, Atelier Collection 1 — a fully realized 30 look offering rooted in soft, quiet luxury tailoring.

While the brand’s philosophy was defined through language and intent, it lacked a visual system capable of positioning it within a competitive, commercially viable fashion space.

This engagement evolved beyond a lookbook. The mandate became clear: build the imagery that would cement the brand’s niche.
STRATEGY

The challenge was not craftsmanship — it was perception.

The collection required visuals that communicated:
∙ Tailoring without rigidity
∙ Luxury without intimidation
∙ Professionalism without corporate formality

Rather than leaning into traditional power-house fashion codes, the direction centered on effortless versatility — garments styled to move seamlessly between professional, social, and cultural environments. The wearer was defined as a young, self-assured, creative professional — confident in fit, not dependent on spectacle.

Restraint became the anchor. Minimal environment. Subtle movement. Quiet confidence.
EXECUTION

∙ Brooklyn artist loft, lean four-person crew
∙ Casting sourced and directed - Nick Sparkman
∙ Designer-led styling for authenticity - Run Tan Du
∙ Captured digitally and on 35mm film - Nick Sparkman

Approximately 150 final assets were delivered across:
∙ Full lookbook coverage
∙ Campaign imagery
∙ Press materials
∙ Social and digital marketing rollout

The production scale was intentionally disciplined — allowing construction, tailoring, and texture to remain central.

IMPACT

The resulting imagery established the brand’s first cohesive visual language.

Following launch:
The brand secured placement in New York boutique showrooms.
Expanded production runs were supported for Los Angeles VIP dressing initiatives.
The collection entered the market with a perception aligned to elevated, commercially viable fashion — not emerging experimentation.

This project marked the transition from concept-driven designer to brand with defined visual authority.

At its core, this engagement demonstrates how intentional creative leadership — even at a restrained scale — can elevate perception, clarify audience positioning, and unlock new market access. This was not simply a lookbook. It was the foundation of a brand image built to scale.
